Workshop Heater Advise

Recommended Posts

I currently have a shed approx 10ft x 12ft I make furniture as a hobby . I have been thinking of putting in a small wood burning stove to keep the place warm ,while I work on the cold nites and days . Anybody know the size of stove I would require , also how easy it would be and what would be needed . My worry is the heater won't be in middle of shed ,so it might set shed wall on fire .

I would say the smallest one you can buy, or no bigger than 5 kW.

A burner made out of a 13kg gas bottle will be well enough for a space like that and make sure you put a decent surround behind it against the shed wall it'll be fine,i've used burners of this size in

I was going to sit on a paving slab but was unsure if it would need to be a air gap between metal surround and shed wall .

I've allways have had a gap mate with a matal sheet but you could tile it seeing as it's permantly sited in one place,a paving slab is perfect for underneath it.

They need to get up to a decent temperature to run efficiently, you will often find yourself leaving the shed door open :)

Also make sure you get a CO2 alarm.
